Joe Biden sworn in as 46th President

By Maddie Goodfellow

Follow all the latest updates as Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, with the Democrat entering the White House for the first time as US leader.

Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first woman of colour to hold the vice-presidency just moments before Mr Biden took over the presidency from Donald Trump.

Famous faces and ex-presidents including Clinton, Bush and Obama were all in attendance at the inauguration ceremony.

The Covid-19 pandemic - which has so far killed 400,000 people in the US alone - has meant the crowds which would usually crowd in front of the Capitol now have to watch online.
